Save the date! On November 22, John is going to be on PBS broadcasts of Nashville 2.0:
Nashville 2.0 explores the vibrant Americana music scene, a genre the New York Times dubbed “the coolest music scene today”. Americana is roots-inspired music that draws inspiration from country, folk, bluegrass, R&B, blues, roots rock, bluegrass, gospel, rockabilly, honky-tonk, alternative rock, folk rock, and punk.
and ACL Presents: Americana Music Festival 2013:
ACL Presents: Americana Music Festival 2013, reflects the breadth of the genre’s musical reach with star-studded performances recorded live at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Performances by legends Stephen Stills, Duane Eddy, and Dr. John anchored the evening, while upstarts such as John Fullbright and The Milk Carton Kids gave mesmerizing performances that looked to the future of the genre.
“It’s astonishing how much vibrant, soul-shaking and exciting music is coming out right now from the Americana movement which both welcomes and blends the best of this country’s musical traditions,” says Donald Thoms, PBS Vice President of General Audience Programming and Talent Management. “It’s doubly exciting to present ‘Nashville 2.0’s” fast-paced and comprehensive primer on Americana music, paired with ‘Austin City Limits’’ annual concert that gives viewers a closer look at these performers and the songs that are constantly redefining the genre.”
“Nashville 2.0” will air on most stations at 9pm ET, followed by “ACL Presesnts” at 10pm ET, 9pm Central. Check your local listings to be sure you don’t miss it!
